Guava 'Beaumont Red'

Psidium guajava

Matt's 9b field note

“Red-fleshed guava variety confirmed by Matt.”

Background

A Hawaiian selection, reportedly derived from fruits found at Halemanu, Oahu, and described in variety lists as Hawaii's most popular commercial guava. Public documentation is thin: most references are variety-list summaries rather than nursery or extension publications, so treat details as provisional.

Distinguishing traits

Very large green to slightly yellow fruit, some reaching a pound; pink flesh; fairly seedy; sweet with mild sourness. Reported as better for processing and juice than for fresh eating.
