Matt's 9b field note
“Nectarine-plum cross in the stone fruit zone.”
Background
The first NectaPlum released by Zaiger Genetics (US Plant Patent 13,503): a nectarine x plum interspecific cross, distributed wholesale by Dave Wilson Nursery. Widely praised by home growers as one of the best-tasting backyard fruits available.
Distinguishing traits
White-fleshed, smooth-skinned fruit with dark maroon skin turning pale pink at full ripeness; both nectarine and plum flavors detectable. Ornamental tree: tremendous purplish-pink spring bloom, red spring foliage maturing to green. Self-fruitful and very productive.
